STONED TOOL - TOOL ARTIST TONE MATCH
Well I never thought I'd be able to get this tone at the convenience of my home. Tool's tone has evolved over the years to feature Adam's VH4 more heavily in the mix. Other amps get mentioned too, but the VH4 has such a distinctive compressed characteristic that I think its the easiest to pick out. Some weird settings that I would never have gone for, but it seems to work for Adam....
I did some reading from Joe Barresi interviews about the recording of 10,000 Days and felt like my 2002 Mesa Oversized cab would be a good place to start. 57 and 421 blended together instantly felt really close to the final tone.
This product contains one Helix Patch, and 2 IR's to make up the tone (labelled A & B).
Absolutely no involvement from Tool or anyone other than myself. You can decide for yourself how close this sounds.
You can hear the results below.
