Ahh “the 70's” and “Rock N Roll”. Some amazing things happened in that decade but its probably for the best it ended. Marshall happened to be expanding faster than they could ever have imagined, and towards the end of the 70's some experimental amplifiers started appearing for a short period in mail order books. Some of these shared very similar circuits with some highly coveted Park amplifiers. This happens to share a lot with the Park Rockhead 1210 - its a little like its 4 hole super lead brother. Circuit wise it falls somewhere between a Super Lead and a JCM800, with also its own individual quirks. Post Phase Inverter Master Volume (surely one of the first ever?!), plate driven EQ, and perhaps most bizarrely, it's a 100W monster inside a 1x12 combo. It almost feels like it was a "hurry up" to Celestion to increase the power handling on their speakers! Supposedly less than 500 of these were ever made so they're extremely rare. Recently checked over by Marshall and its in fantastic condition.

17 Kemper Profiles spread across the 4 inputs. It can be a strange amp to dial in for those who aren't familiar with it - you really have to keep the bass low to stop it getting too flubby. It's full of late 70's Marshall power - the gain on the bright channel kicks in pretty instantly. However, it responds amazingly well to your volume and tone controls and the dynamics and transient response are exceptional. The bass channel comes alive when you leave the channels un-jumpered but take advantage of the cross talk between channels - cranking the bright channel while in the bass channel bleeds in wonderful top end. The master volume can be used to shape the tone, so I've profiled the amplifier with the master in several positions to take full advantage of the different tones it can offer. I should add, this amp takes pedals amazingly well and can sound really modern with an overdrive in front. For anyone who loves high gain tones, be sure to try this.

Included in each profile is a .kpir in the cabinet slot that will match these profiles nicely, but feel free to experiment with your own IR's too! The included cabinet is from a Late 70's 1960A with Blackback G12H30 speakers from 1976, mic'd with a vintage (but well maintained) Beyerdynamic m160 into a Chandler TG-2.

I would recommend adjusting the dist sens control a little based on your guitar and pickups. Usually for me, around +3 seems to match the response of the amp closest but this will vary for every situation. This amp LOVES your volume and tone control so use them to your advantage with these.
